YAY!! Warmer days are fast approaching and we are happy to get the spring glow back. Our skin needs a breather from the winter heavy skin products we have been using for the past few cold months. Those products are the best for keeping our skin protected from harsh cold conditions but now their time is up and should you continue using them in warm conditions, they will be too much for the skin to handle.
Spring clean your cosmetic bag
New-season means new relevant products, never keep unused products for long. Check the expiring dates and throw away old brushes, sponges and applicators. Get up and go shopping for fresh things, fresh ideas, lighter spring colors and new trends.
Cleansing
No harsh soaps opt for mild and gentle cleansers that will not irritate the skin.
Exfoliation
Exfoliate a bit less than you did during winter. Excessive exfoliation will cause serious damage. Exfoliate the entire body however use a different gentler exfoliator for the face. Exfoliation is a necessary step to do away with the dead skin cells effectively.
Moisturize
The trick here is to get the lighter moisturizers suitable for warm weather. Heavy moisturisers during warmer days will leave your skin greasy and weigh it down. You need a non-greasy moisturiser that leaves the skin soft and hydrated.
Make-up
Update your make-up range and lookout for new trends that are relevant now. Old make-up can be harmful to the skin and you need to do away with it if it has reached its best before date. Make-up brushes need to be cleaned first should you continue using the old ones because they build up grime and bacteria over time.
Sunscreen
Have I ever mentioned a skincare routine without shouting sunscreen? NEVER, not possible. Sunscreen should be every woman’s best friend and if you read all the articles I shared about the skin you will notice how strongly I feel about using sunscreen on every single one of them. The correct use of sunscreen is very important for it to give you the right protection so you need to have knowledge about it.
Healthy living
Healthy living is a combination of drinking enough water, eating fruits & vegetables as well as working out.
working out – it doesn’t need to be a hectic session but taking small walks can go a long way or do yoga.
drinking water – our skin is known to be the body’s largest organ and keeping it healthy and functioning means we need to keep it well hydrated. Drinking enough water will help your skin to retain elasticity fighting off wrinkles.
fruits & vegetables – fresh fruits and vegetables are packed with all the nutrients and vitamins that boost skin health. We have so many fruits and vegetables that are also a great source of keeping hydrated as they are packed with water.
Healthy living is important for overall health with the added benefit of healthy skin.
In summarizing all the above; our skin might go through a seasonal transition process whereby anything negative can happen so we need to up our game with eating healthy, keeping hydrated, refreshing our products, and never going unprotected. All these steps need to be followed in order to eliminate skin problems. Spring is one of the most beautiful seasons where everything blossoms so work on your skin to blossom as well.
